Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Tupelo, Mississippi!

Tupelo -- birthplace of Elvis and the first city to go electric under the Tennessee Valley Authority -- gets its name from the Tupelo Gum Tree, source of Tupelo honey. Tupelo history includes 16th century conflict between Chickasaw Indians and Spanish explorers, as well as pre American Revolution French invaders, followed by Civil War strife before developing as a manufacturing hub, spurred by assorted railroads. Recognized worldwide as the hometown of the King of Rock ‘n' Roll, the city's most significant landmark is the two-room shotgun house where Elvis was born, now the centerpiece of Elvis Presley Park, with museum, memorial chapel, and a bronze of Elvis, at 13, depicting how friends remember him in overalls with a guitar. The Tupelo Auto Museum illustrates a century of auto design and engineering with more than 100 antiques, classics and collectibles. As the mid-point of the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway, stretching from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee, Tupelo waves a welcome sign with a hospitable blend of events, festivals, museums, shopping venues, and more than 100 eateries from Mallard & Thatch for cheese steaks to places like the Rib Cage, Brew-Ha's, Good Time Charlie's, Weezie's Deli, Catfish King, and Country Squire. Shipley's Doughnuts bakes 36 varieties, plus sausage or ham kolaches, muffins and cookies. In May, Tupelo's Dudie Burger Festival pays tribute to legendary burgers from Dudie's Diner, now on grounds of an area park, with bring your own lawn chair fun from live music to living history. Also in May, the Blue Suede Cruise features classic cars, plus entertainment with the likes of Phil Dirt and the Dozers and Mustang Sally. Twice yearly, the city hosts more than 35,000 furniture industry professionals at the Tupelo Furniture Market. Greater Tupelo lodging includes more than 1,600 rooms in bed and breakfasts, inns, motels and downtown hotels.
